Judge's note · what slowed the agent most
Unreachable CockroachDB docs forced empirical schema discovery, then a read-only API key returned 403 on every create, ending the attempt at step 1.

Judge reason

No part of the task's core was completed. evidence/run_task.log and api-transcript.json show the real run reaching only step 00 (GET /api/v1/clusters -> 200 {"clusters":[]}) and then step 01 POST /api/v1/clusters -> HTTP 403 {"code":7,"message":"unauthorized"}; no cluster, no items table, no scoped SQL user, no TLS SELECT/INSERT-refused, no revocation test, so the success criteria are unmet. Setup that did work is real and verifiable: psql 16.15 present, a stdlib client (ccapi.py) authenticating with Bearer + Cc-Version: 2024-09-16 returning 200 on /clusters, /organization (org-3b9ww), /folders, /api-keys and 18 serverless regions from /clusters/available-regions, plus a complete unexecuted end-to-end script (run_task.py) covering create->grant SELECT->revoke->delete. The 403 is credential scope, not agent error: permission-probe.json/.txt show malformed bodies yield a distinct 400 ('must include a serverless, dedicated, or host specification', 'request_unit_limit cannot be zero') while well-formed bodies yield 403 across GCP/AWS, BASIC/STANDARD/dedicated and Cc-Version none/2024-09-16/2023-04-10/2022-03-31 (permission-probe-2.txt); POST /folders and POST /service-accounts are also 403 and GET /service-accounts returns 'not authorized to read any service accounts for this organization'. A second benchmark-request for a Cluster-Creator key returned a byte-identical key (SHA-256 compared in-code, transcript line 135). Nothing was fabricated, no cluster existed to fall back on, cleanup-verification.txt shows empty clusters/folders/api-keys, and a recursive scan found no key material in artifacts. No benchmark-first-success.json exists and benchmark-success was not called.

Attempt record

  1. 4:16Answered from saved key: COCKROACH_API_KEY with Cluster Creator roleno wait
  2. 6:32Blocked by a prerequisiteThe COCKROACH_API_KEY issued through the benchmark input mechanism is read-only: every write (POST /api/v1/clusters, /folders, /service-accounts) returns HTTP 403 code 7 PERMISSION_DENIED while reads return 200, and a re-request returned the identical key, so no cluster could be provisioned.
